Well, it's the last day of 2007. Been a pretty big year for hubby and I. We got married and then have somehow manage to survive the hardest 6 months I've ever had to go through - there are certainly scares to show for it too, but I guess they'll heal with time.
There's a lot of talk around the Net about reflection and resolutions. For me I'm done with reflection, I've gone over everything that's happened this year so many times in my head I'm ready to move on - bring on 2008! So for me today's about clarifying some resolutions.
Some of the things I'd love to do this year:
1) Volunteer in some capacity, a couple if possible (I'd love to knit for a charity cause, help out at the local animal shelter, put my hand up for a local theatre group - so, there goes all my spare time :P)
2) I want to be neater and more "proud" of my work and house. It's ridiculous how unorganised I got at the end of this year, I let everything get on top of me and it wasn't pleasant.
3) I need to make more of an effort with making and sustaining friendships - so calling friends for a chat, organising coffee and shopping, being more proactive.
4) Getting my eating and exercise back under control. When things got tough this year it was the first thing to go. I really want to get back to TKD this year, and that's going to HURT!
5) Get out and about more - I want to make sure that hubby and I (or even just myself) actually gets out of the house and away from the computers a bit more. Going out for coffee, or better yet to take advantage of the many many walks around our new area.
I'm actually already making a start on the first one of those.
I was really proud of hubby today - we've always talked about sponsoring a child or doing volunteer work of some kind. Turns out the local RSPCA shelter is really close to where we're living now, so instead of talking about it we actually applied to do some weekend work for them.
I've also put my hand up for the Rugz 4 Kidz project - http://www.rugz4kidz.blogspot.com/
Let's hope I can actually follow through in 2008!
As the title suggests it's raining here again today. I don't mind terribly, it's still an absolutely gorgeous area we've found ourselves in. This is the view from our spare bedroom:
I've been slowly working on a new project too:
It's the Baby's Shawl Collar Jumper with Fair Isle from Babies' Book, 10 Handknits in 8plys, by Cleckheaton. Knit up in Bendigo Woolen Mill's Classic 8ply (colour = Sequoia) and Cascade 220 (colour = natural). My first fair isle! Not too bad for my first attempt if I do say so myself.
I hope everyone's NYE goes well and that 2008 is full for goodness!
